To help you do that, we’ll show you exactly how to use Instagram Live to get your photos and brand in front of huge audiences.

For many, the key to getting started is to know where to start. If you’re starting social media marketing, it can seem like an overwhelming task to get started.

There’s just so much to learn and figure out. The good news? It’s easier than ever to get started with the correct information, advice, and resources. With a little research, you’ll have everything you need to make it happen quickly.

This post will walk you through how to get on Instagram Live and give you a few ideas for where to start.

If you use Instagram for marketing purposes, you need to understand the power of the “Live” feature. This is especially true if you’re trying to market your business online.

As of this writing, there are 500 billion active users of Instagram, which means that nearly every one of your customers is on Instagram Live. What you can do with Instagram Live is similar to what you can do with Facebook Live.

Instagram Live is perfect for promoting your business or products because it allows you to interact with your customers without paying for ads. Plus, it allows you to make money while you sleep because you get paid every time someone watches your video.

In a nutshell, Live is a great way to showcase the more human side of your business so your audience can connect. This tool can be extremely helpful in strengthening the connection between your brand and your potential customers, allowing you to get valuable insights and feedback directly from the people who matter most!

Adjust your Instagram Live settings

Open the Instagram Stories camera and switch to “Live” mode to access your Instagram Live settings. Tap the wheel icon in the top left corner to open your controls. From there, you can choose who you want to see your stories and Live, who can respond to them, where they’re automatically saved and how they can be shared.

Filter comments

If you’d rather not see inappropriate words and phrases in your comments, you can automatically hide offensive comments and manually filter out those containing specific words or phrases. We highly recommend this, especially if you’re a big brand with many engagements.

Open your Instagram settings, scroll to “Privacy,” select “Comments,” and then change “Hide offensive comments” from “Off” to “On.” To filter comments that contain specific phrases, switch “Manual Filter” from “Off” to “On”, then type in the words or phrases you want to filter, separated by commas.

How to start an Instagram Live?

Step 1: Open the Instagram app and go to the “Stories” section. Switch to the “Live” tab. You’ll be able to see how many of your followers are currently active in the Instagram app. This is a good indicator of how many people will receive an in-app notification if you post something straight to Instagram.

Step 2: Go ahead and press the “Live” button, ensuring you have a solid and stable internet connection. The listeners will have a few moments to join in before you go straight into the heart of your Instagram Live broadcast. So chat a bit, ask them questions, or tell them a few jokes until they’re all caught up.

Step 3: Once live, you can choose from several features to make your broadcast more engaging:

  • 1: Share your viewers’ questions on the screen by tapping the question mark icon.
  • 2: Use the paper airplane icon to send DM to someone about your Instagram Live.
  • 3: By tapping the faces logo, you can invite somebody to co-host your Instagram Live.
  • 4: Use filters by tapping the filter icon. Choose one before your start your live, so you can find and apply it as quickly as possible!
  • 5: Share an image or video on your broadcast screen by tapping the camera roll icon in the right corner of the screen.
  • 6: Tap “Comment” to write a comment to the live stream. You may also tap and hold a comment to pin it to the top of the stream.

Step 4: Tap “End” in the upper right corner once your Live is finished, then “End Now” to confirm.

You can then save it to your camera roll or share it with your Instagram stories for viewing over the next 24 hours by tapping the save icon in the top left corner. It’s that simple!

When your live stream is finished, you can save it to your IGTV account. You should see a new “Share with IGTV” button when you end your live broadcast. Choose a video’s cover image (or upload one from your phone).

Live shares are powerful because they convey your message in concrete and real ways. Your reader can see you using details from their own life to illustrate precisely what you are talking about. They can relate. And that links back to the first persuasion principle… which is relevance.

Live shares are highly relevant because they show your audience that you are on the same page and understand what motivates them.

PS: If you need help to write a scrip or find content idea, I highly suggest you to check this.

Here is what you can share:

Teaser or New Product Launch: To use this strategy, take your most popular product and deliberately give very little detail about it. After the teaser, invite viewers to visit your website and sign up for additional information. This will give your live video an element of exclusivity, encouraging people to act immediately, increasing the number of leads you get.

Promotions and sales: One of the best ways to increase your audience is to promise limited-time promotions that you will only offer during the broadcast. If you have a giveaway, promotion, or another campaign you want to provide to a small number of people, announce it in advance! When you go “live,” tell your audience about the coupon or discount code.

Collect emails with an FAQ: One of the best ways to do this is to ask your listeners to submit questions before your show. For example, you can create a mobile-optimized landing page and email form and ask your listeners to submit their questions there, or you can provide an email address where viewers can send their questions. Once you have the emails, you can add them to your newsletter or email stream for even more conversions!

Video marketing is the most efficient way to communicate quickly and impactfully. It can deliver a message with the impact of a hammer blow to the head. Yet, many online marketers don’t use videos because they are unaware of the profound impact videos can have on the success of their campaigns. This is a shame because videos are proven to generate huge profits.

Studies show a video to be 20 times more likely to produce a sale than text alone. That’s pretty incredible when you think about it.

But, you need to have a strong strategy in place.

Tip 1: Spread the word.

Once you’ve built out your plan for what type of content you want to create and how to promote your content, the next step is to get the word out. This includes social media posts, email campaigns, and other online marketing. All of these things should be aligned with the strategy you’ve developed.

If you’re having trouble getting the word out, check in with your friends and family who have already heard about your product, for example.

You can also do this by sharing stories that detail the time and date of your Instagram Live and even using a countdown sticker to mark the event. Encourage followers to tap the sticker and set a reminder for when the countdown expires to make it much more effective.

Tip 2: Go Live when your audience is most active.

The second most important principle is ensuring you are going “live” at the right time for your target market. The more people who receive this notification, the better! Instagram will send an in-app notification to every one of your followers who are online at the time of your Live. This is where many folks make a mistake. This is where a lot of people mess up.

They put their video live and then start marketing it, only to find out that their hottest prospects and customers aren’t online at all hours of the day. Learn when your target market is most active and put your Instagram Live at those times. Here’s a little secret: take a look at your Instagram Insights. Under the “Audience” tab, you’ll find a breakdown of when your followers are most active online, by day of the week and time of day.

Tip 3: Have a clear content plan.

As you plan your life, you should be thinking about what you will say, how you’re going to say it, and how you’ll write it. You should be asking yourself questions: What’s the main point I want to get across? What’s the most important point I want to make? How am I going to explain the idea? How can I use language that’s most likely to move my reader? A clear plan will help you avoid awkward pauses and ensure that you cover all the essential points on your professional agenda.

Tip 4: Put your business goals first.

This is an excellent reminder to ensure that what you’re working towards matches your purposes. This can be as simple as a reminder to keep your goals in mind. When writing your video script, ensure the post’s content and focus will help you reach your goals.

In conclusion, you can get more likes and followers by being creative and using different tactics. But don’t expect to get more followers just because you use these tactics. That doesn’t work. The only surefire way to get more followers is to make an authentic connection with your audience. Tell them a little about your life, and let them see a little of your personality. Be authentic, and your following will grow naturally. And Instagram Live is a great way to do this!
